Did you know?
   
  • A normal heart rate for a small dog (30 lbs. or less) is 100-160 beats per minute
  • A normal heart rate for a cat is 160-220 beats per minute
  • Dogs pant about 200 times per minute
  • Cats only pant when frightened or distressed

Is your pet properly hydrated?    
  • Pull up on the skin at the back of the animal’s neck; it should spring back to the normal position immediately (within one or two seconds). If this is delayed, the animal is dehydrated. If your pet is old, very skinny or obese, feel the gums; if they are dry and sticky the animal is probably dehydrated.
  • Dehydrated animals must be taken to the veterinary hospital for immediate treatment!

Normal Temperatures:
  • Dog: 100.2-102.8 degrees Fahrenheit
  • Cat: 100.5-102.5 degrees Fahrenheit
